Goals and Objectives
The aim of the proposed planning project is to prepare business plan for the establishment and operation of Business Incubator Initiative in Nepal. The objective of the initiative is to 'convert Job-Seekers into Job-Creators' in the country. The incubation initiative is initially focused on:
  • Encouraging young graduates with idea, information and innovation (3i) and to enable them to convert it to successful product & services by using technology.
  • Fostering Micro Enterprises (MEs) and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to enhance their efficiency, productivity and market reach through the education of information & communication technology.
  • Enhancing the capabilities of enterprises that are under 'growth trap' to reach new markets with improved process and information & communication technology.
  • Facilitating entrepreneurs in rural sector and Enhancing efficiency, productivity and market reach of SMEs & MEs
The concept is to build the network of academics, businesses, professionals, financers, and managers for nurturing the economic growth of Nepal through Innovation and information & communication technology.

Nepal being a developing country needs enormous capital resources to build its infrastructure and to meet the basic needs of its people. The education infrastructure is developing slowly but educated mass is facing a serious unemployment problem. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Micro Enterprise (MEs) are providing highest number of employment in the country. Now the time has come to utilize the human resources and the technology for generating employment opportunity by innovating new products & services and marketing them into new destinations.

The Knowledge Bank is the repository of empirical knowledge about entrepreneurs, specialists, consultants, business incubators and business incubator professionals, support organizations, and best practices related to the generation and development of [ICT enabled] business incubators and enterprises worldwide.


The specific objectives of the incubator initiative in Nepal are to:
  • Provide youths having idea, information and innovation access to international markets through ICT.
  • Bring the growing number of fresh graduates into the economic mainstream by encouraging them to create jobs.
  • Encourage networking between academic institutions, ambitious graduates, business community and financial institutions for employment generation and economic growth.
  • Enhance the capacities of SMEs and MEs for economic upliftment at the grass-root level.
  • Attract foreign investment to the IT industry/business in Nepal.
